Effective Utilisation of Catalogue Use in Public Libraries

Abstract

This study adopted primary data methods to include interview, questionnaires, observation, and document review for secondary data. The study showed the problem that affect the use of catalogue, which include absence of library user's instructions on how to use the catalogue, poor catalogue arrangement and inadequate users' instructions provided to library users. Insufficient instructions to library users, and poor organisation of the catalogue inhibited use of the catalogue. Libra catalogue should be properly organised and library users be guided on how to use the catalogues
