dc.description.abstract The study was conducted in Mukono town headquarters of Mukono District, Central Uganda. This study aimed at assessing urban household energy sources and consumption. Data was collected using questionnaires and the sample size was 400 households. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS). Linear regression equation was used to predict influence of socio-economic factors on each of the five energy sources namely firewood, charcoal, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas and electricity. Cronbach's alpha was used to test the reliability for the Likert Scale and produced an acceptable value of 0.619. Results indicate, income, household size, employment status, location, education, sex, age and employment status of household head significantly influence type and amount of energy consumed. Study recommends public education on the benefit of using liquefied petroleum gas as the cooking energy and the disadvantages associated with the use of firewood and charcoal to the environment. en_US
