dc.description.abstract Climate change poses serious challenges on the social and economic development of various worldwide. Such challenges are much more severe in developing countries. To attain Tanzanian's development Vision 2025, an understanding of the likely challenges and issues that climate change poses to various key sectors such as co-operative and agriculture is required. Since independence Tanzania has repeatedly advocated co-operatives as vehicles for social and economic development in both rural and urban areas. However, as it is well known about 80% of all Tanzanians live in rural areas and agriculture is their main income earning activity. In this paper, some of the issues on the climate change that are considered in the attainment of vibrant co-operative development are discussed with a view to establishing the extent to which the change in the earth's climate is likely to affect set goals and targets in the co-operative development agenda. The paper concludes that, climate change for long time has been causing serious challenges to co-operative development in the studied areas. It is concluded that, research be done to create the data base for climate change and related impacts on the cooperative development in the study areas. en_US
