Abstract:
The revitalize and emerging of the National cooperative bank of
Tanzania during the year 2025 in financing cooperative societies and members
against various challenges is subject to sustainability mechanism. The study
examined demutualization of a Kilimanjaro regional cooperative bank to a national
tier, known the National Cooperative Bank (NCB). Data collection engaged
questionnaires from 54 sampled cooperative societies and 162 cooperative leaders.
Exploratory factor analysis was employed to identify bank sustainability strategies.
Indicators of outcome for sustainability was captured by using a binary multiple
regression model. The findings explored that, with effective bank operational;
inclusive management; adhere with Bank implementation process; these are
strategies subjected to influence NCB sustainability. Externalities, financial crisis,
and financial markets are indicators found to influence NCB sustainability. Lastly,
prior to the NCB take-off, financial crisis mitigation and risk assessment strategies
are recommended. Coops and policymakers are recommended to ensure Cooperative
identity is maintained. Further, merging and acquisition perception by NCB, Noncooperative
shareholders is recommended for further study.
