dc.description.abstract The main question which has troubled both policy makers and members of the co-operative movement in Africa, is whether the co-operative enterprise is still relevant in Africa. The implementation of structural adjustment programs and consequent liberalisation policies in early 1980’s did set signals that co-operative movement had met its final demise in the eyes of the emerging global economy. en_US
