dc.description.abstract The study is about the contribution of contract management to the performance of contract for works in Moshi Municipal Council. The objectives of the study were: to examine the compliance of procurement legal framework on the contract management for works, to determine the influence of post qualification evaluation criteria on the contract management performance for works and to determine the influence of inter departmental relationship on the performance of works contracts. The study adopted a case study research design, and the number of respondents was 65. Data collection methods involved the use of a questionnaire, interviews, observations and documentary reviews. Data were analyzed by using SPSS. Descriptive statistics, which involve standard deviation, mean, percentage and tables were used to present the data. The findings revealed that pos qualification criteria; experience and past performance on similar contracts; capabilities with respect to personnel, equipment, construction facilities and financial capabilities had influence on the performance of works contracts at MMC and concludes that the MCC to the high level adhered to procurement legislation in contract management, there was a positive relationship between the procurement supervisory organs in MMC, experiences of the contractors reflect the performance of works contracts and budgetary limitation as the major challenge in implementing works contracts at MMC. Furthermore, the study recommends to MMC to plan their works procurement needs precisely so as to forecast the funds needs from the central government, the government to establish capacity building programmes so as to boost newly emerging contractors and finally the study recommends to make sure that all practitioners of the public procurement to be conversant with the PPA 2011) en_US
